As longtime colleagues at Ashland Partners & Co LLP, Nikola, Jessica and Jason have formed the next generation performance consulting and assurance firm. We have experienced the changes the industry has undergone first-hand. As the industry has matured, we have seen the progression from legacy Big 4 providers to small boutique firms to large consulting firms. Some of this natural evolution has benefited the industry while some of the changes have been detrimental.
Assurance Accounting Group is dedicated to providing the industry an option to use a boutique, accounting firm staffed only with senior professionals committed to a rewarding relationship with each and every client. Nikola has over 17 years of GIPS compliance experience within the investment industry. She has worked with investment advisers of all sizes and asset classes. Previously, Nikola was a Partner with Ashland Partners, an investment-specialist CPA firm, providing audit and consulting services to hedge funds, private equity and real estate firms, RIA's, investment companies, and insurance companies. Her experience includes executive management of over 100 client relationships, spanning Asia, North America, and Europe and leading training of both industry best practices and applications of the GIPS standards. In addition to her GIPS consulting responsibilities, Nikola also oversaw the firm’s Quality Control process and was responsible for compliance with national regulation. She has spoken at several industry conferences regarding GIPS and performance measurement as well as written articles for industry publications, not to mention having valuable experience testifying as an expert witness in GIPS compliance during trial.
During her free time, Nikola enjoys living in Florida with her family and can be found at her pool or a nearby beach.
Jessica spent 18 years at the largest CPA provider of GIPS verification and Performance Services. While there she worked on GIPS verifications, strategy and model exams, Agreed Upon Procedures, Custody, as well as SOC1 and SOC2 engagements. Over the years she has helped hundreds of advisors, both domestically and internationally, through the verification process. Her work on SOC1 exams (formerly SSAE 16 and SAS 70) allowed Jessica to develop a working knowledge of the operational structures and controls for advisors, both large and small. She uses her extensive experience to apply a commonsense approach to working with her clients, ensuring a trusted relationship that results in success.
When she isn’t working with advisors, Jessica enjoys spending time with her family in beautiful Southern Oregon.
Since 2005, Jason has worked in the verification and performance attestation industry, first with ACA Compliance Group and then with Ashland Partners before returning to ACA with the combination of those firms in 2017. With prior experience at a boutique investment management firm, he brings a knowledge and understanding of client needs to each engagement. His primary role has been consulting with and onboarding clients so that their projects begin efficiently and to their requirements. Additionally, Jason has worked on a variety of consulting engagements to assist clients in achieving their goals.
Jason lives in San Diego with his wife, Mina. When not working, Jason enjoys the San Diego weather and all the city has to offer.
